(the two fictional Theroux books were set in India) and the one from Rabindranath Tagore (whose former house - now turned into a museum, we visited in Kolkata) is a collection of short stories. The opening chapter of "The Granta Book of India" titled "Blood" is a gripping account of the infamous "Partition" event between Pakistan and India.
